Thelma J. Buchholz, 74, of Sumner, died Friday, September 4, 2015, at her home in Sumner.
There will be a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner.
Thelma Joan, daughter of Robert and Neva Buck, was born October 10, 1940, in Waterloo, Iowa. Thelma was raised in La Porte City, receiving her education in the La Porte City schools, and graduated from La Porte High School in 1958.
On October 11, 1958, she was united in marriage with Merlen Buchholz, in Littleton, Iowa. Thelma worked on the family farm and raised her four boys. Later in life she worked as a cook, convenience store clerk and pizza maker at Casey’s, and retired from Elk Run Truck Plaza.
Thelma is survived by her four sons, Gordon (Scarlett) of Mason City, Mike (Paula) of Parkersburg, Allen of Sumner and Gary of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Lindsey, Amanda, Peyton, and Joshua; two brothers, James (Trudy) Buck and Wendall (Sharon) Buck.
In addition to her husband, Merlen, who died December 12, 2013, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen; her parents; four sisters, Marian Hagar, Arlene Prout, Carolyn Schroeder, and Roberta Axberg; and one brother, Roy Buck.
